Employees who require a cellphone for their job functions may apply for a cellphone allowance. The application must be submitted in writing with a motivation and recommendation from a Head of Department. It must be verified by the Budget Department for budget availability and assessed by Corporate Services before final approval by the Municipal Manager.
Councillors receive a cellphone allowance in accordance with the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Act and the Government Gazette published by the Minister during the relevant period.
Employees of Mandeni Local Municipality can access confidential, short-term professional support through the Employee Assistance Programme. This includes counselling and intervention for issues such as alcoholism, family violence, sexual harassment, chronic illness, and other personal or work-related challenges.
Service providers awarded tenders by Mandeni Local Municipality but based outside its jurisdiction are required to contribute 3% of their contract value to the CSR Fund. This contribution supports community development initiatives in the municipality.
Employees are entitled to 24 days of annual leave per year if they work five days a week, or 27 days if they work six days a week. Employees must take at least 16 days (five-day workers) or 19 days (six-day workers) per leave cycle, and all leave must be taken within six months of the cycle’s end.
Employees may be granted special leave on full pay for reasons such as court appearance, national events, or other approved circumstances, as defined by the SALGBC KZN Division.
