Students at De Vrije Zee Primary School can join one of four rotating teams that assist their peers in crossing the road safely every afternoon. Teams rotate weekly and are part of a student-led safety initiative.

Learners at De Vrije Zee Primary School can join the puppetry programme to create puppets, write original plays, and perform in front of an audience. The programme helps develop language, acting, voice control, and confidence.

Learners at De Vrije Zee Primary School can take part in karate, which is offered as a private activity. It teaches self-discipline, self-defence, and personal responsibility.

Learners in Grades 4–7 who have been identified as needing support can receive remedial assistance focused on reading, spelling, and writing. This support is provided twice a week during school hours by Mrs Louise la Grange.

- Learner must be identified by an educator or parent, and a signed Parental Consent Form must be submitted to the school.
Learners struggling with mathematical concepts receive subject-specific support every second Tuesday afternoon from 14:30 to 15:15. Each subject teacher provides this help in their own class.

- Learners are identified by their classroom teacher and receive support during scheduled didactic sessions.
Learners with extreme learning barriers who are in Grade 6 and turning 14 may be referred to specialized Schools of Skills such as Westcliff or De Grendel, following SBST discussion and due process.

- The SBST discusses the learner’s case and processes the referral through Mrs Louise la Grange. Parents may consult her directly.
Parents of learners prescribed medication for ADHD or ADD must notify the teacher and Learning Support Educator. The school monitors medication use strictly, and non-compliance may lead to removal from support.

- Notify the teacher and Learning Support Educator about the prescription and ensure medication is administered as directed.
Parents must sign and return a Parental Consent Form before their child can receive any learning support or be discussed in support meetings. Without this consent, no support is provided.
