Edgemead High School makes its road running squad available as part of the athletics programme. The squad trains throughout the year, participates in local club races on weekends, and uses local roads and the Natural Heritage Site for running and off-road training.
Individuals and organisations can make monetary donations to support the school's teaching, academic programmes, faculty recruitment and student experience. Donations are acknowledged on EHS social media, and monetary donations may receive a tax benefit wherever possible.
Fund raising for a tour may take place with the Principal's permission and must not conflict with other school fundraising, and it would normally only be granted to cover the costs of overseas tours. Money raised offsets the overall tour costs of all pupils touring as an official EHS group, is paid into a Tour Fund Account administered by the school, and the Deputy-Principal arranges its distribution.
Pupils may take part in a tour as an official Edgemead High School group. A tour may only happen with the Principal's permission, only current EHS pupils may tour, and as far as possible two staff accompany each group with a maximum of 20 pupils per group.
Edgemead High School offers a set of cultural and extra-mural activities, including animal anti-cruelty, interact, service, photography, debating, public speaking, orchestra, marimba band, library assistant, hiking and computer assistant. The policy places strong emphasis on cultural activity involvement because it teaches children to work together, develops leadership skills, and builds independence, co-operation and camaraderie.
The school links learners to the upcoming exam series outlines and to past papers, but the past papers are only accessible to Edgemead High learners through an EHS email address.
A pupil who cannot attend a meeting or activity can be excused, but only if permission is obtained in advance from the teacher in charge and the parent writes a letter giving the reason, which must be handed in before the end of the school day.
A scroll award at merit level for first team players who have played or were selected for over 75% of games for the season and whose sportsmanship and commitment were of a high level. It is ratified by the Sports Awards Committee and awarded at the annual Sports Awards Dinner.
A scroll award at honours level for team players selected for an U18 provincial side in the sport. It is ratified by the Sports Awards Committee and awarded at the annual Sports Awards Dinner.
A certificate award for all teams, given to players who are not able to achieve a scroll award, normally junior players or players who have not played a full season of first team sport but are still worthy of recognition. Criteria are 75%+ attendance, exemplary attitude, full involvement, and sportsmanship.
