At the outreach engagements in Mthatha, ex-mineworkers and beneficiaries could use mobile Unemployment Insurance Fund and Compensation Fund units to process claims, and also access health screening, work-seeker registration, social security services from the Department of Social Development and identity document services from the Department of Home Affairs. Departmental leadership also met ex-mineworkers directly to hear their concerns.
Former mineworkers and their eligible family members or dependants can go to their nearest Labour Centre or Department of Employment and Labour service point to enquire about, register for and process unpaid compensation, social security benefits and statutory claims.
