Learners can be awarded a Merit Certificate for achieving 80% or more in a subject in Term 2 and Term 4; it is awarded at a Grade Assembly at the start of the year for achievements in the previous academic year.

- Achieve 80% or more in a subject in Term 2 and Term 4; the certificate is awarded at the Grade Assembly at the start of the year.
Learners can receive an academic Colours Award based on total marks ranges in Term 2 and Term 4 (and for Grade 12, Term 2 and Term 3); certificates are received at the start of Term 1 for Grades 8–11 and at the start of Term 4 for Grade 12.

- Grades 8–12 learners meeting the specified marks ranges
- How to act on it:
- Achieve total marks within the specified ranges for the relevant terms; the certificate is issued at the stated start-of-term times.
Learners can receive an Honours Cum Laude Award if they meet the criteria for an honours award and achieve an equivalent national standard (at the committee’s discretion regarding level of achievement and the event participated in); the award includes a white blazer, a scroll, an honours Cum laude blazer badge and green braiding.

- Meet the stated criteria for an honours award and the achievement equivalence requirement; awards are determined by the awards committee for each area.
Learners can receive an Honours Award if they meet the criteria for a colours award and achieve an equivalent provincial standard; the award includes a scroll and an honours blazer badge (white laurel leaves) and white braiding.

- Meet the stated criteria for a colours award and the achievement equivalence requirement; awards are determined by the awards committee for each area.
Learners can apply for an Academia Gold Badge by attaining the minimum points (7 points) in both specified grade pairs; the badge is worn on the blazer after receiving the award until the next award cycle.

- Apply using the application form (application forms are available from the office in the third term) and attain at least 7 points in the required grade terms/pairs.
