Former mineworkers and their dependents can access information about eligibility, application procedures, and support services through the official website and Facebook page launched in June.

Former mineworkers who contracted silicosis or certain severe forms of tuberculosis while working at gold mines between 12 March 1965 and 3 May 2018 may be eligible for compensation. A trust will be established in April 2019 to disburse these funds, following a class action settlement approved by the South Gauteng High Court.

Voters living abroad can register at South Africa’s 120 High Commissions, embassies, and consulates. The exact dates will be announced after final arrangements with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation are completed.

This programme allows individuals with extensive practical experience in the motor mechanic field to gain formal qualifications without going through traditional classroom training. It provides recognition of existing skills and supports career advancement.
