The maBhengu Umbelethisi Multiversity (MBE) provides access to tertiary education for youth in rural KwaZulu-Natal who lack access to higher education. This includes helping students from the uMshwathi area enrol at Ezakheni TVET College in Ladysmith, where they receive accommodation and financial support while awaiting NSFAS funding.

The Student Housing Infrastructure Programme (SHIP) is delivering student housing infrastructure across nine universities and one TVET college through project preparation, financing, implementation, and operations. These developments aim to improve access to safe, affordable, and decent housing for students, especially those from rural and low-income backgrounds.
