If the deceased is not from a state hospital or state day hospital (and the deceased does not have a funeral policy), Bergrivier Municipality provides a free grave. The applicant must submit the required application information and complete the prescribed form, including a copy of the official death certificate, and Bergrivier Municipality’s formal procurement procedure must be followed to grant the free grave.

- Applicants (next-of-kin/neighbor/friend) for funerals of needy persons/households registered for deernishulp (or who would qualify if living in a town area within Bergrivier), including people from Goedverwacht, Wittewater, rural areas and backyard residents if they meet the same intention.

- Submit an application to Bergrivier Municipality with the required information (including a copy of the official death certificate), complete the prescribed form, and have the free grave granted through Bergrivier Municipality’s formal procurement procedure.
