Transport Department investigates allegations of Financial Irregularities

The National Department of Transport issued a media statement on Sunday 6 September 2026 responding to allegations of financial irregularity made by Mr Esethu Hasane in a Sunday World article on 30 August 2026. Acting Director-General Mr Mathabatha Mokonyama ordered an independent investigation by Bowmans law firm, which is already underway. The Department denies Mr Hasane's victimisation claims, saying they were dismissed with costs by the Pretoria Magistrate Court and the Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council and that requests to the Public Protector and Public Service Commission were unsuccessful. It asks the public and Mr Hasane for time to investigate and take remedial action if needed.
