Phakamisa Dhetfundedproject

This document describes the Phakamisa project, a Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)-funded national initiative hosted at the University of Zululand and involving Rhodes University, Durban University of Technology, and Penn State University. The project aims to help achieve the National Development Plan goal of having 75% of academics hold doctorates by 2030. It supports doctoral research in higher education, particularly through the PhD in Higher Education Studies at Rhodes University. Prospective applicants are invited to apply for the 2027 PhD cohort, which is open-ended and ongoing.
