Acting appointment as Municipal Manager
An employee may be appointed to act as Municipal Manager in the absence of the incumbent, provided they meet required skills, expertise, and qualifications. The appointment is limited to a maximum of three months, extendable by another three months with MEC approval. The acting allowance is payable only after 10 consecutive working days and is 12% of the Municipal Manager’s total cost of employer remuneration.
In the absence of the Municipal Manager any other Section 56 employee shall be appointed by the Council to act as Municipal Manager.
