EUR 400 million renewable energy financing initiative
A new funding programme backed by EUR 200 million from the European Investment Bank and aimed at unlocking private sector investment in solar and wind energy projects across South Africa. The initiative supports the development of up to 1,200 MW of clean energy capacity and contributes to climate change mitigation.
Today at COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Vice-President Ambroise Fayolle of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and CEO Patrick Dlamini of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) formally agreed EIB financing in South Africa that will back a new targeted financing programme to unlock EUR 400 million for private sector renewable energy investment across South Africa.
