SAASTE Science Olympiad Participation
Learners in Grades 8 to 11 must participate in the SAASTE Science Olympiad, a national science competition. Selected learners from Grade 10 to 12 may advance to international teams in disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, and junior science.
Participation in the National Science Olympiad (SAASTE) is compulsory for every learner (Gr. 8 – 11).
SAASTA National Science Olympiad
Students in Grades 10 to 12 who perform well in the SAASTE Olympiad may qualify for the SAASTA National Science Olympiad, organised by the Department of Science and Technology. Top performers receive medals, a laptop, and an air ticket to attend international science forums in England or Australia.
Every year selected senior students (Grade 10-12) participate in the prestigious National Science (BIOLOGY or PHYSICAL SCIENCE) Olympiad (SAASTA) organised by the Department of Science and Technology.
AMESA Math Challenge Participation
Learners in Grades 8 to 11 must participate in the AMESA Math Challenge, a national mathematics competition. Top performers may be selected to represent South Africa in international events such as the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) and the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
