Multi-Disciplinary Team

This document describes the roles and responsibilities of the Multi-Disciplinary Team at Vera School, a special needs school in Rondebosch East, Western Cape. The team includes occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists/counsellors who support learners with ASD through assessments, individualized intervention plans (ISPs), sensory integration strategies, communication development using PECS and Makaton, and emotional and behavioral support. They collaborate closely with teachers and parents to improve learners' functional skills, learning outcomes, and transition planning. The school emphasizes a visually explicit environment and multi-modal communication approaches.
