First Aid Box Contents & Usage

The document lays down the standard contents of a workplace first aid box, listing each required item and the quantity that must be kept - wound cleaner/antiseptic, swabs, cotton wool, sterile gauze, forceps, scissors, safety pins, triangular and roller bandages, adhesive dressings, first aid dressings, straight splints, disposable latex gloves, CPR mouth pieces, a rescue/emergency/space blanket, Burnshield kits, ziplock bags, an eye wash glass and a spill pack. It provides a check sheet with a column for each month from January to December and a total, on which the first aid box number and the first aider are entered and the completed list is signed off, plus a log sheet for recording the time and date of an injury, the employee's name, the type of injury, the items used, the treatment given and comments. Items marked EDA must have their expiry dates watched.
