Participate in revised Integrated Management Plan process
After the management regulations are issued, the iSimangaliso Authority will revisit the Integrated Management Plan. Members of the public and stakeholders may have opportunities to contribute to the updated plan for the protected area.
Following the issuance of the Regulations for the Management of the iSimangaliso Marine Protected Area, the iSimangaliso Authority will now revisit the Integrated Management Plan for the Park.
Access to newly proclaimed marine protected areas (MPAs)
The public can now access 20 new marine protected areas within the expanded iSimangaliso Marine Protected Area, which includes vast ocean zones previously unprotected. These areas are now officially designated for conservation and sustainable use under the new regulations.
The proclamation comes into effect on 1 August 2019.
