Higher Education & Training media_statement

This is a media statement dated 17 July 2026 by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Manamela. It says the Minister has referred governance and leadership matters at the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA)—including issues involving the Accounting Authority/executive management and the resignation of senior executives—to the National Skills Authority for a rapid governance assessment. The National Skills Authority is expected to brief on urgent matters first and then submit a comprehensive report with recommendations within the prescribed timeframe, and the Minister stresses the referral is not a finding against any individual or institution and that MICT SETA’s work should continue uninterrupted.
