What this means
The Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) announces an additional, alternative competency-based pathway for entry into the property profession at PDE 4 level. From 1 August, candidates may meet the educational and training requirements by passing a PPRA Examination (same content as PDE 4) without the Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate (NQF Level 4) and the Occupational Certificate: Real Estate Agent (NQF Level 4) being mandatory prerequisites. Candidates with a National Senior Certificate (NSC/Matric) (registered at NQF Level 4) may be admitted to the PPRA Examination; after passing and completing six prescribed practical training modules, they can register as Non-Principal Property Practitioners, but they will not be eligible for the professional designation PPRE. The reform is made in terms of the Property Practitioners Act, 2019, read with Regulation 33, and it does not replace existing NQF Level 4 and NQF Level 5 qualification routes.
