Western Cape Strengthens FMD Response as Farmers, Veterinarians And Government Work Together To Expand Vaccination Efforts

The Western Cape Department of Agriculture has expanded its response to Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) through vaccination campaigns, partnerships with farmers, private veterinarians, and government support. The vaccination effort has vaccinated over 328,876 livestock and continues to be a key strategy along with biosecurity and movement controls to manage the outbreak. The department emphasizes collaboration, support for livestock owners, and ongoing surveillance of suspected cases.
