Recruitment process for Secretary for Defence (Director-General) post
The Department of Defence and Military Veterans is running a recruitment process to fill the Secretary for Defence (Director-General) vacancy, including advertising the post, re-advertising it, and seeking Cabinet approval. The Minister intends to fill the post as soon as Cabinet approval is obtained.
The post was advertised with a closing date of 6 December 2024. However the process of filling this vacancy could not be concluded due to administration challenges and the Minister of Public Service and Administration (MPSA) advised MOD MV to re-advertise the post. As advised by the MPSA, the post was re-advertised with a closing date of 12 December 2025.
Advertisement and recruitment for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) post
The Department of Defence and Military Veterans will publish an advertisement for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) post, close it on 3 April 2026, then hold Selection Committee meetings starting 13 April 2026 and interviews before the end of April 2026. A Cabinet Memorandum is intended to be submitted to MPSA not later than 29 May 2026.
It is the intention of the MOD MV that the advertisement will be published on 13 March 2026 and close on 3 April 2026. Selection Committee meetings shall commence on 13 April 2026 and interviews take place before the end of April 2026.
