Exemption from mineral removal regulations for infrastructure development

I, SAMSON GWEDE MANTASHE, in my capacity as the Minister of Mineral Resources, acting in terms of Section 106 (1) of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act 28 of 20020, hereby, subject to the provisions of the Act, exempt the National Research Foundation from the provisions of Sections 16, 20, 22 and 27 of the said Act in respect of any activity to remove any mineral within its area of jurisdiction for the construction and maintenance of roads and infrastructure, incidental to the Square Kilometer Array project.
